What is bunny.net?
bunny.net is a CDN and edge platform built by BunnyWay, a company based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. It caches your pages, images and videos across a global network, so that every visitor is served from the server closest to them.
Figures published by the provider:
- More than 119 points of presence across 82 countries
- Network capacity above 250 Tbps
- More than 1.5 million websites served
- ISO 27001 certified since September 2024 and SOC 2 Type II compliant
Why this matters for a European organisation: the provider is European, your data can stay inside the EU and the EEA, and routing filters explicitly exclude points of presence outside the EU.
The building blocks of the bunny.net platform
Several products, all configurable from a single console. We only switch on what you need.
CDN
Caching and delivery of your content, with cache rules tuned by content type and by URL.
Shield: WAF, DDoS and bots
Web application firewall, volumetric attack mitigation, rate limiting and malicious bot filtering.
Stream: video hosting
Encoding, built-in player and adaptive delivery, without relying on a public streaming platform.
Storage: object storage
Storage replicated across several regions, with free transfer to the CDN.
Optimizer: images and assets
On-the-fly image compression and conversion, CSS and JavaScript minification.
DNS and Edge Scripting
Managed DNS with failover on incident, and code execution as close as possible to the user.
Points of presence across 82 countries and 6 continents, according to figures published by bunny.net.
Terabits per second of announced network capacity, enough to absorb traffic peaks and attacks alike.
Certification obtained by the provider in September 2024, alongside SOC 2 Type II compliance.

Why choose bunny.net?
Three reasons come up in our projects:
- Data location: the provider is established in the EU and you can restrict delivery to European points of presence. For a public body, a healthcare organisation or a company in scope of NIS2, that weighs as much as performance.
- Cost: billing per gigabyte actually delivered, with no licence and no commitment. On moderate or highly seasonal traffic, the gap with an enterprise platform is considerable.
- Simplicity: cache rules can be set without a dedicated network engineer, and go-live takes hours.
A good fit for a corporate website, an online shop, a business application exposed on the internet or a media library. If your challenge is protecting a critical application estate, securing a large number of APIs or segmenting an internal network, Akamai is where you should look.
/ How we deploy bunny.net for you
Four steps, from scoping to day-to-day operations. We measure before and after on the same indicators, so the gain is verifiable.
Scoping and baseline measurement
Inventory of your domains and content, measurement of current load times by region, then choice of network and products.
Setup and cutover
Delivery zones, cache rules, TLS certificates, then a gradual DNS cutover with rollback available at every step.
Tuning and hardening
Page-by-page cache tuning, Shield enabled for the web application firewall and DDoS protection, rate limiting.
Operations and monitoring
Availability and response times watched continuously, incidents handled, costs and rules reviewed, up to 24/7 on-call.

Frequently asked questions
bunny.net is a CDN and edge platform built by the Slovenian company BunnyWay. It caches your content across a global network of points of presence so that every visitor is served from the closest server. On top of the CDN it adds a web application firewall, object storage, video hosting, managed DNS and code execution at the network edge.
The provider is established in the European Union, is ISO 27001 certified and SOC 2 Type II compliant, and routing filters serve your content only from points of presence in the EU and the EEA. This makes your own compliance easier but does not replace it: the processing still has to be documented in your register, with the matching data processing agreement. We support you on that.
Yes. The configuration is prepared and tested alongside your current CDN, then the cutover happens through DNS, domain by domain, with rollback available at every step. High-traffic websites are switched outside peak hours, after validation on a staging environment.
bunny.net is a delivery platform billed on usage, quick to put live, with European routing available. Akamai is an enterprise platform, far broader on application protection, API security and network segmentation, with a more demanding contractual model. The first suits the majority of websites and web applications, the second critical application estates.
The platform is billed per gigabyte delivered, with no licence and no commitment: the invoice follows your actual traffic. On top of that comes the Castelis engagement for setup and operations, priced after a scoping phase. We estimate the delivery budget during the sales phase, based on your current volumes.
Shield covers the exposed web perimeter: web application firewall, DDoS, bots and rate limiting. It covers neither your workstations, nor your internal network, nor attacks that take other routes. A secured CDN is one layer of defence, not a complete security setup.
